Restaurant: Hong Kong Dessert House, Mid City Centre Arcade,
Bourke St,
Melbourne 3000,
Australia
Comments:
- Best grilled pork chop ever. I have tried so many other pork chops after leaving Melbourne but none came close. Fragrant with lemongrass, without being salty.
- Comes with a nicely fried egg (I usually avoid fried eggs, but can't resist this one) and chopped spring onions.
- They do have the chicken option too, which is good, but not as fantastic as the pork.
- The place is usually crowded but definitely worth the queue.

Comments (Updated):
- Damn good clear soup. Shio is "salt-base".
- Cha-shu melts in your mouth. Always go for additional toppings.
- Noodles are home-made and chewy. Doesn't taste like instant noodle (like at some other ramen shop).
- Apparently, ingredients are fresh and flown daily from Japan. Apparently.
- With other soup base (e.g. tonkatsu, miso) sure there are better options ... but for Shio this is the best.
